Trying to get started but don't know where to begin?  We are commited to helping you in any way that we can.  Whether you're new to homeschooling or just new to the area, a member of NHE or not, we are here to help you.

Your membership includes access to one or both of our email groups

-The regular discussion group is the one that you want if you need to ask questions of the group and are able & willing to handle receiving several emails a day.  It's an invaluable tool and the very BEST way to get to know other homeschoolers in the area.

-The news-only list does not allow discussions.  News-worthy items from the main list are forwarded to this group for those who are interested in "just the facts" and don't feel that they have time to participate in group discussions.

Our email group is the very best place to find out the latest information about what is going on in the homeschooling community here in the Jackson & West Tennessee area.  We often have announcements regarding area tutorials, field trips, etc., and how to participate. 

We try to provide achievement testing each year for those who are interested in participating.  The last few years we have been using the Stanford Achievement Test.  Registration information for testing starts to go out around the first of the new year.

During the school year NHE provides a private pool party (at a local indoor pool) every other month, and private skating parties on the months that we're not having a pool party.  These are popular activities and usually very well attended!

This is our quarterly Mom's Night Out.  The purpose of this evening is to give us a chance to get together with other homeschool moms to visit, talk about school, NOT talk about school, share curriculum, or just eat dinner and enjoy being out with other like-minded moms!  It's a great time to "fill your cup" which is how it got its name :)

One of the difficult things about homeschooling can be that you are sometimes the "odd man out" at church, in your family, or in your community.  Sometimes folks just don't "get" what we are doing or why.  Being part of an organization like NHE gives you a group of like-minded families that understand you and believe in what you are doing.  The support and help that you can find here is tremendous.
